Destination Mah Jongg™ is celebrating its 11th year. We bring competitive and friendly tournaments to beautiful destinations around the world. We play only American Mah Jongg using the NMJL card and rules — that's also why we spell it Mah Jongg.

Founder & CEO

Fern Oliphant

Most of you already know Fern Oliphant, the founder and CEO of Destination Mah Jongg. What began as a passion for bringing Mah Jongg players together has grown into one of the premier Mah Jongg travel and tournament companies in the country. For more than a decade, Fern has dedicated herself to creating unforgettable tournaments, cruises, and special events where friendships are made, laughter is shared, and players of every skill level feel welcome.

Behind the scenes, Fern wears many hats — planning events, negotiating hotel and cruise contracts, working with sponsors, designing new experiences, and ensuring every detail comes together seamlessly. While she certainly loves the game of Mah Jongg, Fern will be the first to tell you that her favorite part is the people gathered around the table. It's the friendships, conversations, laughter, and connections made through the game that inspire her every day. Her vision, passion, and commitment to bringing people together have helped thousands of Mah Jongg enthusiasts create memories that last a lifetime. When you attend a Destination Mah Jongg event, you're experiencing the heart and dedication that Fern has poured into the company from day one.

Nicole Roubique

Nicole Roubique fell in love with Mah Jongg more than a decade ago, and it didn’t take long for her family to realize this new hobby wasn’t going anywhere. She quickly taught her husband, Shannon, and daughter, Victoria, to play — because what better way to guarantee you always have a game?

What started with games at home grew into playing several times a week, traveling the country for tournaments, and eventually teaching others the game she loves. Along the way, her family became part of the Mah Jongg world too. Many Destination Mah Jongg players recognize Shannon, who has competed in tournaments and stepped in as a substitute at DM events. And if you’ve seen Nicole at a tournament, chances are you’ve seen Ryan too — he’s the one in the Mickey Mouse headphones and has been a fixture at her tournament travels for years.

After years as a customer and supporter of Destination Mah Jongg, Nicole never imagined she would one day become part of the company herself. Today, as Co-Owner and President, she brings years of tournament experience, an eye for the little details, plenty of big ideas, and a genuine love for making things fun.

Nicole is excited for what’s ahead — new destinations, new tournaments, new ideas, and a whole lot more Mah Jongg.

Debbie Dout

Debbie Dout is one of the driving forces behind Destination Mah Jongg and an invaluable member of our team. While many of our players know her from our merchandise area, where she keeps everything beautifully organized and helps everyone find just the right item, much of Debbie's work happens behind the scenes. She answers our phones, manages filing and administrative tasks, organizes inventory, and takes care of countless details that keep our business running smoothly every day.

Debbie is also our Spa Jongg specialist, bringing her expertise and enthusiasm to this unique and relaxing way to enjoy the game. Her incredible work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to do whatever needs to be done make her truly indispensable. Her dedication, kindness, and commitment to our players are a big part of what makes Destination Mah Jongg feel like family.

Allison Korman

Allison is often one of the very first friendly faces and voices you'll encounter at a Destination Mah Jongg tournament and is a very important member of the Destination Mah Jongg family. She welcomes everyone with their player packets and helps every guest feel informed, excited, and ready for the adventure ahead.

Allison is dedicated to creating a smooth and enjoyable experience from start to finish. Her warm personality, exceptional organizational skills, and genuine care for our players help set the tone for every tournament, cruise, and Spa Jongg getaway. She loves helping our Mah Jongg family feel welcomed from the very first greeting to the final farewell.
